The 2024 Paris Paralympics have concluded and our men’s wheelchair basketball team, the Rollers, had a powerful performance on the international stage. The team had some tough pool games but finished with strong wins in their final two games of their campaign to finish fifth.
Standout performances from our Victorian young gun, Jaylen Brown who stole the show in the group phase game against Spain, scoring a team-high 22 points, whilst our Victorian legends and seasoned Paralympians (Co – Captain) Tristan Knowles and fellow legend Jannik Blair both had standout performances to help the Rollers achieve their final result.
The success of the Victorian athletes and their strong representation with the Rollers stems from their participation at a community level. We work closely with our associations and support them so they can offer a wide range of programs for both able bodied and wheelchair athletes to experience wheelchair basketball in a safe and inclusive environment. Many of our associations already have a program running or are in the planning stages to launch a program or tournament as part of their seasonal planning.
