Australia Captial Territory, Canberra - The She Hoops Leadership and Confidence Scholarship Program offers young women the opportunity to build confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of purpose both on and off the court.
Designed for girls aged 15 to 18, this five-month program provides a unique blend of basketball development, mentorship, and essential life skills. This holistic approach encourages participants to grow as players, individuals, and role models.
Through a series of sessions, both online and in person, participants emerge with a stronger understanding to become better athletes and leaders ready to make a positive impact in their communities.
One of the core focuses of the program is to champion diversity and inclusion, welcoming applications from girls of all backgrounds, abilities, and levels of experience. The program ensures every young woman feels seen, heard, and empowered to lead in whichever pathway she chooses.
The scholarship also serves as a gateway to broader opportunities within Australian basketball. Participants receive coaching and officiating accreditations, opening doors to multiple roles across the sport. This exposure helps young women explore the full depth of possibilities beyond playing, from coaching and refereeing to administration and community leadership.
Past participants have already experienced the lasting impact of the program. Leadership and Confidence Scholarship graduate and Pakenham Basketball Association member, Olivia Sudweeks, shared, “I’m deeply thankful to She Hoops for the opportunities they gave me through this scholarship. The work they are doing for women’s basketball is truly inspiring, and I want to give them the biggest thank you. I strongly encourage any young woman, whether a player, coach, referee, or aspiring administrator to apply for this program. You won’t regret it.”
The She Hoops Leadership and Confidence Scholarship continues to shape the future of women’s basketball by equipping the next generation with the tools, confidence, and community they need to succeed.
