Big V League Management, Matt Royal and Andrew West have put together a hard-hitting, action-packed season opening round, which begins on the 29th of March 2025.
A brewing rivalry is the perfect way to kick off the season, as Sunbury and Hume City face off at Boardman Stadium in a highly anticipated Saturday night showdown.
Meanwhile, McKinnon makes a short road trip to take on Pakenham at the Colosseum. On Sunday, the Warriors then head to Broadmeadows for a clash against Hume City. With all four clubs fielding men and women’s teams at this level, it sets the stage for supporters to enjoy double headers throughout the 2025 season.
The 2024 Division One Men Champions, RMIT will unveil their Championship Banner on the Saturday Night after earning promotion later this year. This could be a monumental night for RMIT as the Redbacks host Melbourne University in the ultimate battle of the universities. It’s clear this marks the beginning of a thrilling rivalry in Championship Men.
The Champions of both men and women’s 2024 Championship division, Wyndham, will be on the road, heading to Sherbrooke (women) and Keysborough (men) in opening round. The Championship banner reveals will have to wait until Round two when they will be hoisting up not one, but two banners to the rafters!
Two of the longer road trips to mention is Blackburn heading to Shepparton in the men’s competition with a likely packed house to start the season while the newly promoted Division One Women Champions of 2024, Warrandyte, will be on the road to Warrnambool. Warrnambool, the 2023 Division One Champions, had an impressive debut season in the Championship and are aiming to contend in August next year.
Coming of an improved season in 2024, Bellarine will start the season with a big double weekend at home when they take on Bulleen (Women) and Camberwell (Men) on Saturday night before backing it up against Sunbury.
Basketball Victoria will continue to work with associations through their fixture process, with the full 2025 Championship fixture set to be released later this week. The remainder of the 2025 fixture is set to be released in the new year.
