Big V is excited to announce the Championship Men and Women’s fixture for the 2025 season
The wait is over! The 2025 Championship Men and Women’s season fixtures have now been fully fixtured– dates, times and venues are confirmed.
After a thrilling 2024 season, the Big V Championship competitions continue to improve both on and off the court! In contrstucting the 2025 fixture, consideration is taken for association requests for events such as rivalry games, hosting feature rounds, double headers and more. League management have worked with the 16 Championship associations to create a competitive and balanced 2025 fixture.
With the Opening Round fixture released earlier this week, teams and supporters, from today, can view the entire Championship fixture online. The regular season is set to begin on the 29th of March, and will continue through until the final round on the weekend of the 3rd August. The first showdowns of the season will take place on Saturday 29th March at 5pm with the women leading things off with Bellarine hosting Bulleen and Warrnambool hosts Warrandyte. You will have to wait until 7pm for the mens, with RMIT vs Melbourne University and Shepparton vs Blackburn.
Look no further than Round three where you find the Championship Men grand final rematch with McKinnon hosting Wyndham in what will no doubt be highlighted in the Cougars calendar. For the women, it is Wyndham who will play host to runners up, Bulleen Boomers on 25th May as they head across town, looking to claim victory in what has been one of the best Championship Women rivalries in recent years.
A mid-season break has been scheduled between round eight and nine, over the King’s Birthday weekend.
League Manager Matt Royal said that the 2025 season is poised to showcase exciting talent and thrilling matchups. With new players entering the competition and others moving between championship associations, the on-court action this season is sure to be intense.
Anzac Round will tip off from the 26th April at 5:30pm between Women’s rivals, Warrnambool set to host Bellarine and, in the Men’s, 2024 Division one champions RMIT will battle against Sunbury.
The annual Pink Round will make a return in 2025, scheduled for round eight, over the weekend of May 24/25, in efforts to raise money for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) with four double headers in place.
International Pride month will be in June across the entirety of Basketball Victoria and several associations will be hosting Pride games throughout the month to recognise inclusiveness.
First Nations Round will begin on the weekend of July 5th in an aim to celebrate our firsts people, coinciding with NAIDOC week.
Mental Health Round will take place in round 15 and is purely dedicated to raising awareness and promoting conversations around mental health. All associations and clubs have the opportunity to be part of this weekend.
