22ND JANUARY 2025 UPDATE
Chelsea has confirmed the season veteran guard John King will suit up as not only a player but the lead assistant coach for the Gulls in 2025. With a decade of coaching and playing experience, King will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to his group.
Good news keeps coming for Chelsea as Jodie Ferguson has re-signed with Gulls for the 2025 season. From a Junior at the age of 15, Jodie has worked her way from VJBL to an instrumental role in the women’s team for the Gulls. Playing over 300 games and 3 championships to her name, Jodie continues to bring passion to this group.
Cooper Kirkman has been announced as one of Sunbury’s new signings clearing from Keilor. With NBL1 experience both on court and during training as well as numerous years in the Victorian Youth Championship competition, Kirkman can bring a new spark to the Jets unit.
Warrandyte have announced the signing of Angok Angok for the 2025 season. After a year in NBL1 with Ringwood, Angok’s athletic ability and versatility comes as an exciting piece to the Venoms men roster.
Shepparton has announced the signing of the lefty Aaron Donly for Championship Men 2025. The champion from Wyndham brings an array skills including his specialty from behind the arc. Unfortunately, his injury held him from taking the court in the Final, Donly will be ready from day 1 to make an impact.
The CBL champion from Wodonga, Eric Miraflores has put pen to paper signing with the Gators for the 2025 season. Having played all over the world including NBL1 most recently in the East conference, Miraflores has a wealth of experience ready to be put to work in the Gators uniform.
Collingwood are thrilled to announce the return of Maddi Geislinger to the All Stars for Big V 2025. Named in the All Star 5 in 2024, Maddi averaged almost 20ppg. Becoming a big part of the All Stars Community, Maddi put in her extra time working with the juniors and in both EDJBA and VJBL.
9TH JANUARY 2025 UPDATE
Sunbury have announced the return of Josh Yorke-Fraser after a battling 2024 season. Josh struggled to playout the season due to injuries. Playing just 14 games, Josh averaged 24 points per game shooting 42% from beyond the arc. The return of Yorke-Fraser has brought real excitement to the Jets for 2025.
Chelsea have signed Ray Mitchell for the 2025 Season after a year with Sunbury in Championship Men. Ray brings real experience to the Gulls after many years playing both Big V and NBL1. Averaging 13 points per game, Ray’s length and versatility could bring this group to new heights.
Fiona Darnell has returned to the Gulls for 2025 ready to showcase her continued passion and skill in the new season. Having played over 250 games, Fiona shows great leadership and dedication on both sides of the floor, earning herself a defensive player of the year nomination in the 2024 season.
Hume City have announced the signing of their second import Maddy Holland to their Women’s side. Graduating from Saint Mary’s College in California in 2022, Maddy owns the second-most assists in program history along with 6th in three-point field goal percentage. With experience in Ireland and recently in the Women’s Premier Basketball Association, coach Brooke Davenport is excited about the potential of Maddy and their playing group.
The duo Josh Dow and Matt Berkec return to the Warriors in 2025 after an 11-11 record season. Berkec most recently won a championship in Basketball Victoria’s Country Basketball League with Pakenham playing an instrumental role in the dying minutes. Josh Dow played and started all 22 games of the 2024 season hoping to take his group further and possibly into finals in 2025.
18TH DECEMBER 2024 UPDATE
Sunbury welcomes 6”6 Forward Bryon Gladden from Georgia Southern University to Australia for the first time. Gladden has most recently been in Portugal as a guy who can play both in and outside. Gladden looks to bring real excitement and competitiveness to the Jets in 2025.
Hussayn Ford has joined Southern Peninsula for the 2025 season after most recently playing NBL1 West for Goldfields Giants. In 2024 he averaged 12ppg and 9.42rpg shooting 50% from the field. An intense defender and rim protector, Ford looks to take the Sharks further in 2025.
Jake Afoa returns to Big V Basketball after moving to Northwest Tasmania in the NBL1 South competition now joining the Warrandyte Venom. In 2024, Jake averaged 5.29ppg and 3.76rpg. Jake is an exciting prospect and will look largely impact Division One Men in 2025.
Sunbury have announced the signing of Jelena Savic for the 2025 Big V Season. Most recently playing VYCW for Keilor, Jelena averaged 10.27ppg and 6.55rpg whilst suiting up and in Keilor’s NBL1 South Women’s team throughout the 2024 year.
Chelsea are excited to welcome Ashleigh Kelman-Poto to their Division One Women’s team in 2025. Ashleigh had a short stint with Casey’s NBL1 South Women’s team in 2024 where she averaged 5.29ppg. Ashleigh is a MVP in 2020 for Northern Kahu in New Zealand’s Tauihi League.
Chelsea announced the return of Keiran McQueen to the Gulls for 2025. Kieran averaged 10.39ppg shooting 57.85% from inside the arch. Kieran has earned himself an All-Star 5 in recent years and had become an integral part of the Gulls in 2024.
29TH NOVEMBER 2024 UPDATE
Swaggy Jai Jalin Wimberly returns to Gippsland United after an All Star 5 caliber year in Division One Men. Averaging 26.23 PPG and leading his group to the Grand Final, Jalin returns with sights of taking out the Championship for Division One.
Ricardo Time is back in Championship Men in different colours signing with Hume City for 2025. Ricardo spent his first year in Big V with Melbourne University where he averaged 21.37 ppg whilst shooting 33.8% from the land of plenty. Time’s skill in clutch situations will give the poise and detail Hume City need.
The Craigieburn Eagles announced the resigning of Briana Grey for 2025. The All Star 5 and Craigieburn MVP returns with a winning mentality securing their way into Division One Women for the 2025 season. Playing 14 games in 2024, Briana averaged 19.86 PPG and 11.5RPG Double Double.
Collingwood All Stars have resigned Jacob Daniels to their Division Two Men after a 24.83 PPG 2024 season. Jacob has been an integral part of this Collingwood unit while being involved in the development of the Junior Program.
Warrandyte have strengthened their front court after signing Harry Love to their Division One Men for 2025. Love spent the 2024 year with Ringwood’s NBL1 South side learning and developing his game. Coming back to Big V, Harry Love will be an exciting piece for this venom group.
Mildura have made a big move for 2025 signing Sam Finley to their Men’s roster. A 6”1 point guard out of California, Finley spent some time with UC Riverside and Ole Miss in the NCAA before heading to Ireland where he most recently averaged 27 PPG, 5.8APG shooting 37.7% from deep.
Dylan Larkin returns to Pakenham in 2025 after several years in NBL1 South with Waverley. Dylan averaged 12 minutes a game in the 2024 season bringing a spark off the bench with his athleticism and IQ off the ball. Larkin is excited to return to the Warriors and bring the energy.
21ST NOVEMBER 2024 UPDATE
Championship Women Hume City will welcome Kenna Holt from the University of Nevada, a standout player at Bishop Manogue High in the USA. At 5’8, she is an elite hustle player who’s won four straight Sierra League titles and a 2017 Regional Championship. She was a two-time Sierra League Player of the Year and was named second-team all-state twice.
Bridgette Rettstatt will ‘storm’ into 2025 resigning with the Bellarine Storm after her debut season. A 2024 All Star Five inclusion, Rettstatt averaged 17.4PPG,13.1RPG and 52.1%FG.
Another one for Bellarine, Courtney Strait was a star on the court in the Championship Division, also an All Star Five inclusion for 2024. Strait averaged 16.2PPG, 2.8APG and 0.56BPG.
Craigieburn will move up to Division 1 Men in 2025 and have resigned their All Star 5 and Golden Hand’s Lewayne Grant. In 2024, Grant averaged 19.72PPG, 5.39APG and 7.56RPG. He has been an incredibly popular player amongst fans and instrumental in Craigieburn’s success.
Wallan will also welcome Rankia Guyton from Vancouver Island University to their Senior Women’s team. Guyton is a 5’6 point guard who played for CCAA in 2023 and in North Macedonia last year for KK MZT SKOPJE in their ‘First A League’.
Keysborough welcome the 2024 Division One Men Leading Rebounder Aaron Frost coming across from Chelsea. As one of the best rebounders in recent years for Big V, Aaron is ready to bring the energy at a Championship level.
A huge signing out of Hume City as they sign the 2024 Championship Men MVP Kavione Green after a year with the Bellarine Storm. Green led the league average in rebounds (12.82PG) whilst averaging 24PPG.
Warrandyte welcome Jackson Dean, the 6’4 Guard/Forward to the Venom across from Camberwell. The versatile athlete with a nonstop motor averaged 15.8PPG and 6.6RPG in 2024.
Division Two Men Wallan will welcome Jon Bailey, a 6’10 dominating Centre from Wisconsin Lutheran College and played a season with the Buffalo Extreme in the ABA 2023/24, shooting 51.5% from the field.
Pakenham has announced the massive signing of Steve Coffey from RMIT. The 2024 Grand Final MVP for D1M, All Star 5 in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024- and 2-time Golden Hands winner will bring true professionalism and experience to the Warriors.
Pakenham have also welcomed 6’8 forward Ned Carr from Dandenong’s NBL1 team. A physical presence in the paint, Ned averaged 7 minutes per game in the NBL1 South competition. Ned also dominated in their Youth team in the Victorian Youth Championship.
