2023 was an incredible year in our Big V competition. We had some great games and saw some new teams crowned as champions. We finished off our season celebrating a successful year at the Big V Awards Night. However, we have three more awards to give out before the year ends. It is our coveted Club Awards for 2023.
Below we've listed our Chairman's, Club of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year Award winners:
Chairman's Award 2023 - Mildura Heat
The Mildura Basketball Association have been named the winner of the 2023 Chairman’s Award in the Big V competition. The Chairman’s Award recognises outstanding performance and excellence in basketball operations and the Heat have set a new standard with their product on and off the court.
They attribute this award to the effort of their hardworking staff and volunteers.
“Thank you Big V for the recognition of our Association’s staff and most importantly, our volunteers who have put in countless hours over the years to assist with delivering our Big V program. We pride ourselves on delivering a quality product and experience not only for our players and coaches, but for our sponsors, our fantastic supporters, and visiting clubs; to receive recognition of our effort from the League is appreciated”.

Club of the Year Award 2023 - Wyndham Basketball
The Wyndham Basketball Association has been named Big V Club of the Year for the 2023 season. The team was recognised for their strong on-court performance, efficient administration, and exceptional communication with Big V staff. The award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Wyndham Basketball Association.
Wyndham Basketball were delighted to be recognised as Club of the Year.
"Receiving the Club of the Year award is great recognition for the large volume of work our staff and volunteers have been putting in over the past couple of years. We have made a concerted effort both on and off the court to increase our level of professionalism and raise the standards of our program as a whole, with this award being a great acknowledgement of the efforts by many."
Volunteer of the Year Award 2023 - Gary Pestrucci
Gary Pestrucci has been named the Volunteer of the Year Award winner for the Big V 2023 season for his outstanding contributions to his association. The Volunteer of the Year recognizes individuals who go above and beyond to support their association's Big V program. Gary's unwavering commitment and attention to detail have made him an invaluable asset to the Craigieburn Basketball Association.
Craigieburn President Belinda Tirant expressed the value Gary brings to the club.
"Gary is invaluable to our Club, volunteering countless hours as a Committee Member, with the main responsibility of our Big V Program from pre-season, through tryouts, being Commissioner and running Game Days. Gary is also the main point of call for our Imports, working hard to make them feel at home and enjoy the Australian experience.
Gary’s unselfish and dedicated service to CBA makes him a very worthy recipient of this Award."
