The Victorian Wonders are set to hit the court for the very first time as part of the Women's National Wheelchair Basketball League (WNWBL) and fans won’t have to wait long to see them in action.
Their league debut takes place on Friday, 30 May at 6:30 PM at the State Basketball Centre, where they’ll face off against the Adelaide Thunder. It marks the beginning of what promises to be a thrilling season of wheelchair basketball.
A weekend of fast-paced action
The Wonders' debut tips off a blockbuster weekend of wheelchair basketball here in Melbourne, with three (3) full 5x5 games, featuring the best of traditional wheelchair basketball, and two (2) action-packed 3x3 games, showcasing speed, skill, and intensity.
- Game 1: Friday 30 May - 6.30PM
- Game 2: Saturday 31 May - 12.00PM
- Game 3: Sunday 1 June - 10.00AM
- 3x3 Game 1: Saturday 31 May - 11.00AM
- 3x3 Game 2: Sunday 1 June - 9.00AM
With five rounds scheduled across Australia, each weekend is a celebration of skill, speed, sportsmanship – and this is your chance to experience it live in Victoria.
Victorian hosting rounds
The Wonders will host three rounds of the 2025 WNWBL season right here in Victoria, giving fans multiple chances to support their newest team on home soil:
- Round 1: 30 May–1 June, State Basketball Centre
- Round 3: 4–6 July, State Basketball Centre
- Round 5: 8–10 August, TBC
The WNWBL has been running since 2000 and is gaining significant momentum with the Victorian Wonders joining as the sixth team in the competition. The 2025 season runs from 30 May to 10 August across five rounds, with finals to follow.
