We are saddened with the passing of former Basketball Victoria Board Member and Bulleen-Templestowe legend - Janet (Jan) Collinson last week.
Jan had many roles in her basketball journey including Victorian Junior Girls Chairperson, Victorian Senior Women’s Committee member, Vice President of Basketball Victoria, WNBL Life Member, Awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and a Basketball Victoria Service Award.
Jan served as Malcolm Speed's Vice President of Basketball Victoria, and was the driving force behind starting a girls competitions in the VJBL, this included calling all the main stadium managers around Melbourne to get them on board.
A huge voice in the early days of the WNBL, Jan was the key driver for decades in the entry and continuation of the Bulleen Boomers WNBL team who know take shape as the Melbourne Boomers.
She was awarded Life Membership with Bulleen-Templestowe in 1989 after serving in almost every role imaginable with the club, and was a strong advocate for female equality and progressing pathway opportunities.
Jan is the mother of Bulleen-Templestowe's current VJBL U12/1 boys coach Rob and our thoughts are with him, the family and all of the basketball community at this time.

The Funeral Service for Janet Claire Collinson will be held at Potters Cottage, 321 Jumping Creek Road, Warrandyte on Monday 8th May 2023 at 1pm.
