Our High Performance team held the first Under 14 Future Development Program (FDP) Country Metro Challenge (CMC) in Bendigo across Sunday and Monday this week.
The challenge was created to give to the athletes, who are involved in FDP another opportunity for further coaching by our elite coaching staff and competitive match practise.
The athletes are selected after a trial process within FDP squad in their High Performance hubs across the state, and the teams are randomly selected within either Metro and Country at the start of the Country Metro Challenge.
Each day began with skills and drills in their teams and then following with meaningful, competitive games against each other. The games offer the athletes the opportunity to trial and test the skills and drills that they have learnt within a competitive game environment.
Basketball Victoria High Performance General Manager Grant Wallace was impressed by the skill level and willingness of the athletes to listen and learn from their coaches.
“The Country Metro Challenge has given our Under 14 athletes another chance to come together to be exposed to elite coaching and develop their game. It was so good to see how the athletes came together and really gave it their all.”
The CMC also gave the High Performance team the chance to support the coaches with their development and growth.
