This Sunday the Blackburn Vikings Division Two Women will host their Motor Neuron Disease (MND) Round in an effort to support and raise money for MND Victoria.
The round is very special for this Seniors Women's team, as one of their players (Kate Pattison) has been directly impacted by MND. Both her grandmother and her mother Julie have been diagnosed with MND.
Blackburn Vikings D2W Assistant Coach, Ashleigh Zuccolo explained what this round means to Kate and this Blackburn team.
The inaugural MND Victoria Round is very close to the hearts of the Blackburn Vikings Senior Women, and wider club. One of our own players, Kate Pattison, has had her life directly affected by MND, and Kate herself has taken on the selfless role of caring for her mother as she battles the disease. So when Kate asked about the idea of having a themed round supporting MND Victoria it was a no brainer for our team.
The Blackburn Vikings Senior Women, and the wider club and community, have really come together in support of this worthwhile cause. We have the utmost gratitude for all those that have donated, bought tickets and supported the event – and have in turn helped us to support Kate, her family and all those people living with MND.
MND Victoria focuses on care and support programs to improve the lives of all those families impacted by MND. The Viking's goal is to raise some much-needed money and awareness for MND Victoria, so that they can continue to provide the best possible care and support to all those people living with MND.
