Keysborough 80 Def. Bellarine 75
It seemed like the game could have been over by the end of the third. Bellarine up 12, 66-54, 10 minutes left with their first win in sights. Things were going their way in the first 3 quarters, winning all the quarter split yet Keysborough were not ready for the game to be over. 7 straight points in the first minute and 15 seconds, coach Luke Beauglehall had seen enough. Trying to get their feet underneath themselves, Bellarine struggled to connect from everywhere on the court and the Cougars continues to pounce. Steals and Blocks generated scores, energetic tip in plays down the stretch, the momentum was pointing straight to Keysborough. Dylan Moore’s big 3 with less than 4 minute left gave them the lead and it remained that way. Chery was able to tie the game at 74 with a pair of clutch free thows, yet Anthony Williams and Kirk Smith came out on top nailing 6 from 6 from the charity stripe to seal the win.

McKinnon 78 Def. Camberwell 65
The race for the 4th seed is very much on and these two have been neck and neck and will continue to be. This weekend has just proved that either group can snatch it away from each other making for an exciting competition. It was all Camberwell in the first half with Gemma Fyffe and even Samantha Lambros off the bench adding great value on court. With Camberwell up 42-27 at half time, McKinnon had to make something happen quick, and they did exactly that holding the Dragons to just 9 for the quarter. The Cougars late run in the 3rd with Sucklings finish as the time ran out brought the deficit to 0! 51 a piece going into the 4th, McKinnon again made a run late, holding the Dragons scoreless in the last 3 minutes of the game, Suckling again closing out game out.

Coburg 77 Def. Collingwood 75
It was a roller coaster through all 4 quarters of this battle between the Giants and All Stars. Neither giving each a run to extent a lead, the biggest being just 10 by Collingwood in the 2nd. Coburg held the lead for majority of the 1st before Collingwood took control to go up by 4 at the extended break. The combination of Adnam and Elnour held the All Stars afloat, never dropping the lead but to only win the quarter by 1 point. Turn the page to Coburg who simply wanted this more as the game went all the way to the very end with a timeout by Coburg with 1.5 seconds left on the clock. A simple sideline play drawn up with shooter Patrick McBrearty to inbound the ball. With Hurdley setting a screen for a zipper cut for Maluma to come off, the ball went to Hurdley. McBrearty lost his man in a split second sprinting to the corner for a shovel pass, and the rest is history.

Warrnambool 60 Def. Craigieburn 55
Three on the trot for Warrnambool as they creep towards the top of the table with Bellarine and Western Port in their sights with the win over Craigieburn on the weekend. A big performance from Courtney Strait with 23 points and 15 rebounds, keeping her girls in the fight all game long. Shooting just 7 from 20 from the arc and 6 of 11 from the charity stripe, Craigieburn’s struggles continued, turning the ball over 21 times. Managing to stay in the game was a great effort! Amy Wormald was in her own class with a massive 17 point 15 rebound performance to go with her 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block playing the whole 40 minutes! Dakota Crichton and Keele Hillas both finished with double doubles 8 of their combined 20 offensive.

Wallan 87 def. Melton 83
A huge last quarter from Melton put fear into a Wallan team that seemed to put the cue in the rack on Sunday at Seymour Sports and Aquatics Centre. It was Liam Allison’s 14 points in the last quarter that lead the charge for the Thoroughbreds and the only thing that slowed them down was the game clock. The Allison brothers were amazing on the day, scoring a combined 44 points as Wallan could not find a defensive solution. Luckily for the Panthers, they had done enough damage across the first three quarters lead by young star Tyler Best with 23 points whilst Lallemand, Stewart and Gorski were also contributing at a high-level.

Surf Coast 84 def. Wallan 82
Another game winner! This time for Courtney Hollowood who drove down the middle lane to make a contested layup for the win. Hollowood was brilliant on the night with 22 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds as she led her team to a strong win against another leading team in the league in Wallan. For Wallan, it was Kylah Collins who controlled play with 24 points but unfortunately found herself in foul trouble for lot of the evening. Lucky for them, Olivia Dalmau was strong enough to step up on the night to combat the Collins foul trouble, she finished with 23 points and 5 assists. You’d be silly to miss the next time these teams go head-to-head later in the season!

Knox 70 Def. Casey 62
It was a top of the table clash in the lead up to round 6 with Knox sitting just above Casey in the Terril conference. It seemed all Knox early in the game as Casey struggled to hit to scoreboard in the first half with just the 22 points leading into the halftime break. Again, in the 3rd quarter Casey struggled to convert on the offensive end whilst being able to slow down Knox holding them to just 15 points. Knox had a substantial 17 point lead heading into the 4th, yet Casey made a late push winning the last quarter 27 to 18. The combination of Beau Tranter and Jacob Bell proved too strong combining for 37 points, Bell shooting 5 from 10 from the land of plenty. Knox now have extended their lead on the Terril conference, holding the top spot on their own with 7 wins and 2 losses.

Camberwell 98 Def. Bendigo 92
A big effort from both sides in Youth One Men with Bendigo taking Camberwell to overtime after a big comeback in the second half. Jackson Dean, a possible MVP candidate and influential player in this Dragons roster injured himself early in the 1st quarter, never to return, throwing the load to an experienced Sam Veitch. Bendigo’s Josiah Pattinson had a big game paired with Lachlan Somerville pushing their group to a 27 point 4th quarter. Down 2 points with under 10 seconds left, the experience of Sam Veitch came alive as he converted a tough finish putting the game into overtime. In what could have been a full 10 minute quarter by the score line, the Dragons scored 16 points in 5 minutes to Bendigo’s 10 to hold off the Braves late run.

Wyndham 81 Def. Collingwood 70
A competitive battle between Wyndham and Collingwood, 2 sides looking to straddle multiple wins together. Only a 3 point margin leading into the half time break with Wyndham just holding on. Collingwood’s Stephanie Da Silva and Claudia Galea came up big to the All Stars keeping them in the race, yet it wasn’t enough as they continued to be out scored by the slimmest of margins in each quarter. Wyndham made a little 11-0 run in the 3rd quarter to stretch the game out making it that much harder for the All Stars to creep back. Wyndham ended up with 4 players score over 10 points with the team shooting 36% from deep.
