Basketball Victoria is thrilled to officially welcome Morwell Basketball Association as the 100th Ford Aussie Hoops Delivery Centre in Victoria!
This is an exciting moment in our continued efforts to grow grassroots basketball across the state. Morwell has joined a strong and supportive Ford Aussie Hoops network that gives young participants their first taste of basketball in a fun, inclusive, and engaging environment.
A Milestone Worth Celebrating
Upon learning they were the 100th centre, Morwell didn’t waste a second in celebrating the occasion, they hosted a launch event packed with smiles, fun games, and lots of basketball under their brand-new Morwell Ford Aussie Hoops – Mini Magic banner.
Jenny Byrnes Secretary of Morwell Basketball Association explained the excitement from the coaches to the participants, "All the coaches were excited as we hosted our first clinic on Wednesday afternoon, as the kids had fun," she continues, “It’s incredibly rewarding to witness young athletes revel in the sport while learning the essential skills of basketball.”
Building a Basketball Future
More than just a skills clinic, this partnership is about shaping the future of basketball in the Morwell region. Jenny continues to explain how important the new program will help children build foundational skills, foster teamwork and resilience, and, most importantly have fun playing the sport we all love. “This partnership not only aims to teach the fundamentals but also to foster a love for the game and promote its growth within the Morwell community,” Jenny added.
“By nurturing these young kids, we're investing in the future of basketball and helping to create a vibrant sporting culture in Morwell.”

As an official Ford Aussie Hoops Delivery Centre, Morwell Basketball Association will now have access to:
- A full suite of Ford Aussie Hoops equipment and resources
- Coaching and program delivery support
- Guidance from Basketball Victoria to ensure the program continues to thrive
