Due to a small number of COVID cases within team accommodation overnight, Basketball Victoria would like to make the following updates for spectators and players at the Kumon Country-Metro Challenge.
All players and staff who have been designated as close contacts have been withdrawn from the Challenge and will be required to test once they get home under the Victorian Government directives.
We aim to continue the Kumon Country-Metro Challenge despite these circumstances to ensure Victorian players, coaches and officials who have not had much meaningful basketball over the last two years are able to participate in this tournament as safely as possible.
All coaches and players must remain in the foyer areas outside of the playing courts until the preceding game has completed and all have left the court area. Once your game has been completed, you must leave the venue as soon as possible to ensure the absolute minimum number of people are within the venue at any one time.
All families must remain outside the State Basketball Centre until their designated start time and once your game has been completed, you must leave the venue as soon as possible to ensure the absolute minimum number of people are within the venue at any one time.
If you do not have a child or family member competing in a game, we ask that you not attend the Kumon Country-Metro Challenge to help lower the total number of patrons at the venue. Ideally each player will have just two supporting members in attendance.
All patrons over the age of 8 who are not actively engaged in an exertive role on court – whether as a player, coach or official, are required to wear a mask at all times indoors (unless they possess a valid medical exemption).
If you choose to not comply with these requests, you may be asked to leave. These requirements will ensure the Challenge can continue to operate within a safe and healthy framework. We appreciate your understanding and patience at this time.
