Basketball Victoria (BV) is pleased to announce that the Accelerated Women’s Coaching Program (AWCP) is returning in 2025.
Launched in 2024, this innovative program brings together eight women coaches who aspire to hold state team coaching roles within the Victorian set-up. The 2025 participants will attend one in-person and three online sessions, before the program culminates in a fully funded immersive experience at the 2025 Foot Locker U16 National Championships, which will be hosted by Bendigo in July. This opportunity will provide a combination of coaching and professional development, with participants also achieving their Association Level coaching qualification.
During the stay in Bendigo, participants will attend workshops with BV’s Performance Pathways Head Coaches and Coach Education Manager Rob Coulter, and Peter Lonergan, General Manager Centre of Excellence (CoE) and Performance Pathways at Basketball Australia. Seated courtside with the Victorian state team coaches during games, AWCP coaches will gain invaluable experience at the state level while also forming a network of women with similar aspirations who can provide ongoing guidance and support as they continue their coaching careers.

‘The program is designed to provide selected coaches with a unique opportunity to gain insights into working in a performance pathways environment and learn from Victoria’s leading coaches. The success we saw from the 2024 Accelerated Women’s Coaching Program in terms of the depth of connections built between the participants, and their understanding of the Victorian performance pathways system was fantastic. I am so excited to be able to offer this opportunity to a new cohort of women coaches and watch their careers into the future’.
