With the 2024 Country Basketball League (CBL) season tipping off this weekend, early indications suggest this may be the biggest season yet. Reigning champions Moe take on Bairnsdale, hoping to upset the Bullets on their return to the Gippsland League after a huge 6-year break.
Round 1 will showcase the Warriors Cup, where Warragul Warriors will take on Pakenham Warriors to see which team are most worthy of the Warrior title! The spectacle will be one of the first games to blood in the Warragul Warriors new stadium, which will feature a spectacular double header with both men's and women's teams taking to the court.
This CBL season will also see the Myrtleford women's team return to the North-East Women's league after taking a year break, with the Saints set to take on the Wodonga Wolves at home.
CBL League Manager, Sarah Szczykulski says “the excitement surrounding CBL at the moment is incredible and I can’t wait to see what this season brings. The success of our 2023 season is a further testament to the direction of our league and we expect 2024 to be our biggest year yet. Good luck to all 2024 CBL teams!”
