Basketball Victoria is proud to announce the selected athletes for the 2025 Under-12 Country Jamboree, set to take place in Echuca from 20 - 23 September.
The Jamboree is a key event in the junior basketball calendar, providing 120 boys and 120 girls with their first taste of the Victorian High Performance pathway. These athletes were chosen from more than 1,200 participants who took part in Under-12 Skill Days held across 10 regional centres - a testament to the depth of talent in country Victoria.
Over the four-day event, players will engage in a range of activities including structured training sessions, tournament-style games, and skill development clinics. More than just a competition, the Jamboree aims to foster a love of the game through fun, inclusivity, and teamwork. Rules are specifically designed to encourage equal participation, and the focus remains firmly on enjoyment and development, not the scoreboard.
Now in its 25th year, the Jamboree also supports coach and referee development while building strong friendships among athletes from across the state.
The 240 selected athletes will be grouped into 12 teams per gender, with 10 players per team. Teams will proudly take on names that celebrate Australian culture and wildlife, including the Bushrangers, Emus, Possums, Goldminers, Jackaroos, Kookaburras, Koalas, Kangaroos, Wombats, Wallabies, Goannas, and Magpies.
Congratulations to all the players selected for this unforgettable basketball experience. We look forward to seeing you hit the court in Echuca!
