Victoria has three athletes representing Australia in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2023 later this month in Singapore.
Taking place between Wednesday 29 March and Sunday 2 April – and marking the sixth edition of the tournament – Australia’s men’s and women’s team have both claimed medals in the previous four Asia Cups.
Representing Victoria and lining up in the green and gold for the women will be 21/22 WNBL MVP and Opals forward, Anneli Maley, Commonwealth Games bronze medallist in 3×3, Marena Whittle, and rounding out the women’s team is Alex Wilson and Lauren Mansfield, with Miela Goodchild and Emma Clarke listed as emergencies.
The men’s roster has 3×3 specialist and Victorian, Andrew Steel, in a team that also includes Daniel Johnson, Lucas Walker and Todd Blanchfield, with Tanner Krebs and Josh Davey as emergencies.
This competition marks a crucial step on the pathway to the 2024 Olympic Games, as the winners of the Asia Cup will secure a spot in the 3×3 Paris qualifying tournament to be held in the first half of next year.
