Basketball Victoria is hosting a collegiate pre-season game with the University of Wyoming this August!
The University of Wyoming women’s team is heading to Victoria this winter to square off with a number of sides ahead of their NCAA Division 1 season in the Mountain West Conference.
The Cowgirls will face a Victoria Select Under-18 squad on Wednesday 3 August at Mullum Mullum Stadium, Donvale to cap off their tour.
The Victoria Select team will consist of six Metropolitan athletes and five Country athletes to give our High Performance players another great opportunity to face high calibre competition. Currently competing at the FIBA Under-16 Women’s World Cup Asian Qualifiers Australian representative Tabitha Betson will feature in the Victoria Select team alongside her Victoria Metropolitan championship winning team mates and a number of Victoria Country athletes from this year’s Australian Under-18 Junior Championships.
“It is fantastic to host to host the University of Wyoming women’s team for this game and give our elite junior players an opportunity to face collegiate-level talent,” Basketball Victoria General Manager – High Performance and Pathway Grant Wallace said. “Opportunities like these have been rare as of late - with international travel limited over the last two years - so it is brilliant to see touring college teams return to Victoria.
“With plenty of Victorian players earning collegiate scholarships, this is a great chance for this current group of Victorian athletes to square off against a NCAA Tournament-calibre team and further their development.”
The game will commence on the Mullum Mullum Stadium showcourt from 6pm on Wednesday 3 August with free entry for all spectators.
