Athlete Spotlight: James “Jimmy” Myers
A true veteran of the program, Jimmy Myers continues to exemplify the spirit and commitment of the Ivor Burge program.
Turning 30 this year, Jimmy was selected for his first Ivor Burge Nationals at just 13 years old, and 2026 will mark his 17th consecutive nationals campaign representing Victoria.
Living in country Victoria, Jimmy balances full-time work as a labourer while maintaining a dedicated training routine, putting in an hour of practice each night on grass at his family’s property. To attend team sessions, he travels more than four hours, demonstrating the passion, perseverance and love for basketball that make him an inspiring figure for teammates and the entire Victorian basketball community.

Both teams will proudly represent Victoria as they look to continue their strong legacy at the 2026 Foot Locker National Championships.
Congratulations to all athletes, coaches and support staff selected for the upcoming campaign, and a special acknowledgment to long-serving athletes like Jimmy Myers, whose dedication continues to inspire the next generation of Ivor Burge athletes.
