Melbourne, VICTORIA – Basketball Victoria is proud to announce the athletes selected to participate in the 2026 Under-12 Metro Jamboree, taking place at the State Basketball Centre from 28 September – 1 October.
The Jamboree will welcome 60 boys and 60 girls, bringing together 120 talented young athletes for their first experience of the Victorian high-performance pathway. Athletes will be divided into six teams per gender, with 10 players per team, creating an exciting environment to learn, develop and compete.
The Metro Jamboree is one of the first milestones in the Basketball Victoria Metro Pathway, providing athletes with the opportunity to develop their skills, learn from experienced coaches and compete alongside some of metropolitan Melbourne's most promising young basketballers.
In a tribute to Australia's rich basketball history, each team will proudly carry the name of a legendary Vic Metro athlete who went on to represent Australia as a Boomer or Opal: David Andersen, Chris Anstey, Andrew Bogut, Josh Giddey, Dante Exum, Andrew Gaze, Rebecca Allen, Ezi Magbegor, Alanna Smith, Michelle Timms, Rachel Jarry and Penny Taylor.
To further support their development, all athletes selected for the Jamboree have also been invited to join the 2026/27 Future Development Program (FDP), providing ongoing opportunities to continue their development as they progress through the Basketball Victoria pathway.
Basketball Victoria Metro High Performance Administrator Suzy Luppino said the Under-12 Metro Jamboree was an exciting opportunity for athletes to begin their high performance journey.
"The Under-12 Metro Jamboree is a fantastic introduction to our Metro Pathway and gives athletes the opportunity to challenge themselves, build new friendships and learn alongside experienced coaches in a fun and supportive environment," Luppino said.
"It's always exciting to see young athletes embrace this experience, and we're looking forward to watching this group take the next step in their basketball journey."
