Mading Kuany has arrived in Canberra this week to begin his scholarship with the NBA Global Academy.
Kuany is among three other young talents who have also received scholarships, either at the NBA Global Academy or the Centre of Excellence, both situated at the Australian Institute of Sport, they will be immersed and engaged in the daily training environment on offer at the AIS and led by coaches from the Centre of Excellence and NBA Global Academy, along with top sports science and high-performance staff.
Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence head coach, Robbie McKinlay, said it was an exciting time for the CoE and NBA Global programs.
“These four young players have the athletic ability and basketball skill set to add value to the current cohort of athletes in the CoE and Global Academy,” he said.
“The ability to engage in a daily performance environment with some of the best players in the country will help them continue to develop and we are excited about the group moving forward.”
Kuany plays locally with Longhorns Basketball Club and the Collingwood All Stars, he has also been named in the squad to represent Victoria in the U18 National Championships being held this April. He stands out with his talent and dedication to improving his game, both on and off the court.

The NBA Global Academy has a strong reputation of recognising and nurturing other talented Victorian including, Josh Giddey and Dyson Daniels.
