For 17 incredible years, Barry devoted his life to International Wheelchair Basketball. This tireless commitment to the welfare and development of our referees left a positive mark on the sport, setting a shining example for all who followed.
Barry Spicer's legacy as a referee spanned several decades, dating back to his service on the SEABL panel since 1990 and the National Wheelchair Basketball League since 1994. His impact was truly global, as he held the esteemed position of an International Wheelchair referee since 1998.
In recognition of his significant influence on the referees at Nunawading, Barry was awarded a well-deserved life membership to the Nunawading Basketball - Technical Officials Commission in 2022. With 20 years of experience officiating on the National Referee's Panel and on the international stage with the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation, he eagerly looked forward to passing on his wealth of knowledge and experience to the next generation of referees, who aspired to elevate their game.
