Basketball Victoria is inviting athletes to submit expression of interest for the 2026 Victorian Under 20 Women’s and Men’s State teams trials.
Athletes must meet the below criteria:
- Eligible players must be born in the year 2008 or 2007, and not turn 20 years of age prior to 31 December 2026
- They must be participating in a competition being conducted by Basketball Victoria for example VJBL, Big V, NBL1
- Athletic ability, size and skill levels that are likely to achieve success at a National Championship
- Ability to fill a role required by the coaching staff to help the team achieve success
- Ability to fit into the team’s ethos based on skill, compatibility, personality and character of the player
Successful athletes for selection consideration will be notified via email from Basketball Victoria with the trial information. The first trial is on Sunday 28th September.
Please note: There will be an Under 20 Women’s State team and an Under 20 Men’s State teams selected. There may then be a development team selected as well, being women’s Victoria Navy and/or Men’s Victoria Navy.
Victoria Under 20 Women and Men will be selected first. Should an Under 20 Victoria Navy Women and/or Under 20 Victoria Navy Men be eligible, these team(s) will be selected after the State team, with all athletes in Navy teams considered as emergency players for the Victoria teams. Criteria for selection into the Victoria Navy team includes consideration of:
- Long Term Athletic Development (a priority for athletes who are Bottom Age – born in 2008)
- Will benefit greatly from the opportunity to play at a National Championship
- Contributes to a healthy balance of Country and Metropolitan athletes
Nomination submissions CLOSE 5pm on Wednesday 17 September 2025.
The 2026 Australian Under 20 Championships will be held 25 January-1 February 2026.
