Victorian representative Dejan Vasiljevic will make his national team debut this month as the Australian Boomers continue their 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Vasiljevic has been selected in the Boomers’ squad for his Australian senior men’s team debut in the fourth qualifying window, which gets underway at the end of August.
The 2022 NBL champion and NBA Summer League invited player will join the likes 2022 FIBA Asia Cup gold medallists Mitch McCarron and Sam Froling as well as Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Nick Kay.
It’s a powerhouse side also featuring NBA Draft pick Luke Travers, Angus Brandt and Rhys Vague amongst a plethora of talented players.
The selected 12-man Australian team will head overseas to take on Bahrain on 25 August, before returning home to host Iran in Bendigo on 29 August.
After coaching the Boomers to the FIBA Asia Cup gold medal, Mike Kelly will head the Australian team and will be joined by Centre of Excellence Head Coach Robbie McKinlay and Jamie Pearlman to round out the coaching staff.
Tickets for the Boomers clash against Iran at Red Energy Arena, Bendigo will go on sale on Friday 12 August.
