It’s time to run it back – the Big V 2022 season fixture has been announced!
Commencing 19-20 March, the Big V 2022 season will bring together an elite group of 142 teams across our 12 divisions this year. From Championship Men and Championship Women through to our Youth League superstars, it will be a bumper season for everyone involved as Big V returns bigger and better than ever before!
It’s shaping up to be an action-packed start to the 2022 season across the board with plenty of tantalising matchups to keep an eye on!

Making its way into the Championship Men’s Conference, Camberwell is sure to shake up the Championship Men’s division facing off against Blackburn and McKinnon to begin the season in style as the next-door neighbours lock horns for the first time in Champ this year!
McKinnon shone throughout the lockdown-affected 2021 season and will be one of the sides to beat with divisional rival Keilor packing up and heading off to NBL1 South in 2022. The Cougars will be out to impress with a big double-header weekend to start things off against Western Port and Camberwell. Wyndham hosting Hume in the first round is another exciting prospect to look out for with the Devils and Broncos vying for top billing in the West. Sunbury has its sights set high in 2022 and will be out to make a strong impression first up against Chelsea, while the Gulls will start the season off against Wyndham before heading down the M1 to face the Jets.
Chelsea and Pakenham have made the step up to Championship Women in 2022 and they’re here to play. The Gulls will aim to impress in their new home division as they battle some of the best in Championship Women to start their campaign – squaring off against Wyndham at home to commence life in the new grade.
Pakenham will be on the road to start life in Championship Women, with the Warriors clashing with McKinnon to put a big test to the newcomers straight away. Hume, Bulleen and Sunbury will be ready and raring to go as they aim to make a big mark on the Championship competition too - making for an exception season ahead in the top flight!
There’s plenty to see throughout all grades of our competition as RMIT move up to Division 1 Men, while Sherbrooke Women will take on the Division 1 Women competition in 2022. With a tightly fought race in 2021 and plenty more to play for in 2022, the likes of Keysborough, Corio Bay and Bellarine will look to pick up where they left off in D1M while the D1W competition has plenty of contenders lining up with Chelsea and Pakenham’s promotion. Keep an eye on Mildura, Craigieburn and Warrandyte as they aim to rise even higher up the ladder in 2022!
Division 2 welcomes Gippsland United and Surfcoast to the competition, further expanding our incredible competition into Torquay and back into Gippsland. But it won’t be smooth sailing for the newest teams as the likes of Altona, Wallan and Mildura in D2M and Altona, Sherbrooke, Coburg in D2W will be at the top of the pecking order for the championship flag!''
Our Victorian Youth Championship (VYC) conferences are ready to roll with the best of Victoria’s elite youth talent set to take the conference by storm. Casey will make the step up to VYC and is set to impress upon its leap up to the top youth ranks in the country!
Big V Manager Jeff Downes said he’s excited to see the return of Big V after the challenges of 2020 and 2021, with the league set to shine in 2022.
“We’re excited to see Big V return in 2022 and this is a fantastic fixture to celebrate the league returning to the court,” Downes said. “It’s been a challenging two years across Victorian basketball, but our associations, officials and teams are thrilled to get back and battle it out for the championship.
