The National Performance Program (NPP) held their 2023 graduation camp at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Canberra this week.
NPP is tailored to develop high–calibre athletes that will head towards elite representation at the national level and into professional opportunities in Australia and abroad.
Many have already showcased their skills in the national and international arena with selection for junior Australian teams alongside plenty of appearances in Victoria Country and Victoria Metropolitan sides.
The camp was a chance for NPP athletes to experience life at the CoE as well as to train in the state of the art facilities, with our HP coaches as well as CoE coaching staff. The NPP athletes and coaches took part in a mixture of on court drills, scrimmages, and further development, whilst off the court they were treated to lecture style discussions from a range of experts.
A highlight was a visit from NPP alumni including:
- Carlin Briggs
- Sa Pilimai
- Dash Daniels
- Luke Fennell
- Sarah Portlock
- Sienna Harvey
- Sophie Taylor
- Bonnie Deas
Past Basketball Victoria High Performance coaches Ash Arnott and David Herbert who both now work at the CoE, also dropped in to say hi and offer advice for our graduating athletes.
Grant Wallace Basketball Victoria general Manager High Performance acknowledges that without the support of the CoE staff the camp wouldn’t be possible,” We can’t thank the staff enough that the CoE to support our camp every year and offer our graduating athletes the chance to experience an elite level of sport development.”
Congratulations to all of the graduating athletes and staff that attended another successful NPP camp!
