Congratulations and thankyou to all participants, parents, coaches, referees, administrators and volunteers who helped shape the 2022 Country Under-12 Jamboree in Echuca-Moama last weekend.
After a two-year hiatus the event was a welcome return for all as it plays a critical role in the High Performance pathway for under-12 Country Victorian athletes and brings the community together over a special weekend.
The Country Under-12 Jamboree invites the best 120 boys and 120 girls to gain experience developing their skills in a High-Performance environment.
Invitations were awarded to top-age athletes from the Under-12 Country Skills Days, with the four-day invitational camp held in Echuca-Moama in the September school holidays.
The players were allocated into 24 separate teams across the weekend to encourage their development alongside new coaches and new teammates from across Victoria.
Basketball Victoria’s Craig Hockley describes the opportunity as an experience that sets players up for their entire Country journey.
“The Jamboree is one of our favourite events as we get to see the newest age group of Country Victorian players enter the Victorian High Performance pathway,” Hockley said.
“Players and coaches had a great time at the Jamboree, learning lots of new skills and making lifelong friends throughout Victoria.
The 240 players were selected from the annual Under-12 Skills Days events held throughout Country Victoria. Top-age athletes who excel at the Skills Days are selected by the region coaches to attend this prestigious event.
Basketball Victoria would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s Country Under-12 Jamboree and the Skills Days that preceded the event, it highlights the great passion and excitement there is for Victorian basketball throughout regional Victoria.
