Basketball Victoria plays a major role in enabling all members of the community to receive these benefits by ensuring that the spot is accessible and welcoming to all. Basketball Victoria offers opportunities for greater participation and development outcomes across all levels of our pathways, including programs in talent identification; coach and referee development; leadership; awareness raising; and support towards building intercultural relationships. Basketball Victoria is also proud to have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indigenous Basketball Australia (IBA) to work collaboratively in creating pathways and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. Together, IBA and Basketball Victoria will work to develop and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent both on and off the court, as well as capacity building in communities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander coaches and referees. |
Reconciliation Action PlanBasketball Victoria’s Innovate RAP formally endorsed by Reconciliation Australia and highlight our commitment to working together with our associations and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to ensure they are welcomed and included within all levels of basketball in Victoria. Each individual action in our RAP plays a crucial role towards improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation at all levels and across all aspects of our game.
