It is with great pleasure that Basketball Victoria can announce the first round of Country-based State Development Program (SDP) Scholarships for the 2022 High Performance Pathway Program.
The SDP is a nation leading long-term athlete development program designed to provide aspiring basketballers with a holistic learning environment that will give them every opportunity to turn potential into performance.
Throughout the trial process and pre-Kumon Country-Metro Challenge camp, this initial group of athletes has exhibited either long-term, exceptional qualities, next-level potential in one or more of the six Basketball Victoria pillars or elite habits that align with their basketball dreams.
The second round of invitations will be announced following the 2022 Kumon Country-Metro Challenge from 14-17 January 2022, where athletes competing in that event will have the opportunity to demonstrate their merit for the program.
It’s important to note that SDP scholarships remain an organic process, with a number of prior scholarship-holding athletes earning their position half-way through the year after being spotted by network coaches or demonstrating genuine improvement and exhibiting BV values at a VJBL or Country event.
With this in mind, for those athletes who have been unsuccessful in earning a scholarship at this stage, please don’t forget that athletes are always being evaluated and there are always opportunities for those who earn them.
