Basketball throughout the Greater Geelong region continues to flourish and impress on the domestic, junior and senior ranks.
Geelong teams have made their marks in various competitions across the state and country – currently within SEABL, BIG V, Melb Utd VJBL and various domestic competitions throughout the city.
The Geelong Supercats and Corio Bay Stingrays are high-flyers in their respective leagues as are the plethora of junior associations and clubs that represent the region.
Geelong has been represented at the national level recently, with Chantel Horvat and Matthew Johns rising through the city’s basketball ranks.
These teams and players – and numerous others throughout the area’s history – have played a significant role in the proud history of Greater Geelong basketball… but with your input the basketball future of the city can be pushed further.
The city is full to the brim of basketball talent and this is your chance to tell the council how important basketball infrastructure is within Greater Geelong.
The City of Greater Geelong has undertaken an ambitious project – with Our Future aiming to collect the views of 25,000 people about what the Greater Geelong region should be in 30 years and how the city can get there.
By collecting 25,000 views, grand decisions for the future can be made based on community consensus.
This project is driven forward by partner organisations and supporters like us.
To show our support, Basketball Victoria Country is encouraging everyone in the region to have their say about the future of Greater Geelong.
This can be achieved by:
- Reading information about what makes a community successful and completing the survey online at geelongaustralia.com.au/ourfuture
- Attending a community session about Our Future (session details online or see attached flyer)
- Holding a workshop or conversation about Our Future with your networks, family and friends.
