The rules and regulations of basketball are in place to protect participants and enhance the games enjoyment.

*NEW COURT MARKINGS*

From the 1st October 2010 for Level 1 competitions (main FIBA official competitions: i.e. Olympic Tournaments, World Championships for Men and Women, U19 and U17 World Championships for Men and Women and Zone/Continental Championships for Men and Women) the new FIBA Court markings will be used.

From the 1st October 2012 at the latest for Level 2 competitions (i.e. all other FIBA official and the high level competitions of the national federations) the new FIBA Court markings will be used.

However, all national basketball federations are encouraged to apply the new court markings, if possible, as of 1st October 2010 especially for their senior men/women competitions.
