Deaf Basketball SWOT Forum – 11th of July 2009
Recently Basketball Victoria, Deaf Basketball Victoria, Deaf Sports Australia and Deaf Sport and Recreation Victoria all signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will unite all key organisations currently involved in basketball for the deaf and hard of hearing in Victoria.
As a result and to assist the growth, development and also to secure the future of deaf basketball in Victoria, Basketball Victoria with Deaf Basketball Victoria, Deaf Sports Australia and Deaf Sport and Recreation Victoria will be holding a SWOT Forum, to be held on Saturday, the 11th of July. The forum will be the first of its kind and will be sure to generate some fantastic ideas and plan for the coming years.
The forum will include key organisations within basketball and the wider deaf and hard of hearing community, including current affiliated clubs and will be used to identify the strengths of the sport, Identify any weaknesses that currently hold the sport to ransom, examine the opportunities that the sport has to grow within the deaf , hard of hearing and hearing communities and the threats involving the sport in the current format.
Basketball Victoria is looking for 5 members of the deaf basketball community that would like to be involved in the forum. Although not essential, it would be preferred these members be recent members of Deaf Basketball Victoria.
The forum will be deaf friendly as interpreters will be provided. The invitation is open to all members involved in deaf basketball who are forward thinkers and would love to be involved in leaving an important legacy for the future.
